“If you take care of the mind, you take care of the world!”
Mental health and illness are a huge taboo even in today’s times and many of us feel guilty speaking about it openly. This October 10, BHIS Andheri celebrated the ‘World Mental Health Day’ and keeping in mind the theme this year, we made mental health a global priority. Sessions and activities adhering to the theme were designed by our Counsellor Ms. Juhi, who customised these, keeping in mind the needs of specific age groups.
While our pre-schoolers were taught and made aware of the meaning and importance of mental health, our primary students were made to realise how ‘Internet Addiction’ can be detrimental and how they can refrain from it. Our secondary students observed this milestone of a day by understanding the difference between ‘Mental Health’ and ‘Mental Illness.’ The major objective of these informative sessions was to sensitise the students on topics such as Mental Health and destigmatise Mental Illnesses and its perception in our society.
