So, like we shared yesterday, BHIS Andheri geared up for the celebration of the harvest festivals. Decor symbolic of Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Lohri and Bihu were put in place. The significance of each festival was shared and students were invited to discuss how India is united in its diversity.
Students deciphered the Indian Harvest festivals as well as International Festivals like Olivagando Lammas, Mid Autumn Festival (China), Blessings of the Sea (Greece), and April Flower Festival (Portugal). The idea was, no matter the geographical locations and language barriers, the essence of people and their beliefs is the same universally. And we need to adapt to changing times.
Hence our children spoke about celebrating Sankranti with til gud laddoos rather than flying kites with manjha or abrasive string that can cut fingers and hurt birds. The students sang, danced and had a great time at the game stalls. Full marks to our Preschool students and teachers for a brilliant set up.
Yes, we harvested a fun filled day, indeed. Festive greetings to you all.
